Julia McHugh was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Louisville, KY. After completing her B.A. from Hanover College; she has gone on to obtain her M.S. from Idaho State University and her Ph.D. in vertebrate paleontology from the University of Iowa. She is currently the curator of paleontology for the Museums of Western Colorado and an adjunct instructor in the department of geology at Colorado Mesa University. Having always been drawn to the natural world, she now balances her passion for nature photography with an active scientific career.
